Due to sudden changes in dietary habits after fasting for a long time during Ramadan, many people experience problems like gas, acidity, indigestion, constipation and flatulence. According to health experts, not following the correct rules is the main reason for these problems.

According to medical experts, eating too much during Iftar, eating carelessly quickly and lying down immediately after eating disrupts the digestive process. After being on an empty stomach for a long time, the stomach cannot take the pressure of a sudden heavy meal, which causes discomfort.

Correct eating rules

Experts have emphasized that ‘how you eat’ is more important than ‘what you eat’. Their suggestions in this regard are—

Food should be eaten slowly and chewed.

Food should be taken in moderation without eating too much at once.

Even during Sehri, the stomach should not be made heavy by eating more than necessary.
Avoid lying down immediately after eating, as it slows down the digestion process.
Home Remedies

Experts have suggested an effective herbal mixture to treat mild stomach discomfort or gas. Grind 50 grams each of dried lemon, pomegranate seeds, dried mint leaves and fennel into a fine powder. Consuming one teaspoon of this mixture with water after Sehri and Iftar can help relieve acidity, indigestion and flatulence.

Many people believe that drinking soft drinks or soda can help reduce indigestion or heartburn. However, doctors have debunked this idea. The soda in carbonated drinks increases stomach acid, which can make the situation worse.

Similarly, experts have discouraged drinking tea or coffee immediately after Iftar. Caffeine slows down the digestion process, which can make the body feel heavy and uncomfortable. Basically, it is possible to stay healthy and avoid physical complications during Ramadan by following a balanced diet, a sense of moderation, and following some simple rules.
