State Minister for Labor and Employment and Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment Nurul Haque Nur said, "Our large population is engaged in various activities in the Middle East due to the incident in Iran. The government is concerned about them."
He said, "However, I am surprised about this issue. Because our Prime Minister has realized the issue before us. The Prime Minister has already instructed us to inquire about the expatriates in this incident."
He said this in response to a question from journalists after a view-exchange meeting organized with the heads of various departments of Patuakhali District Administration at 12:30 pm on Sunday (March 1).
At that time, Nurul Haque Nur said, "The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been instructed to connect and work with us. First of all, our job is to provide safe shelter to all the citizens of the country who are in the Middle East. To make them aware and alert.
He further said, "So far, there has been no news of any significant loss to any of our citizens. However, four of our citizens were injured in a drone attack at the Kuwait airport."
The State Minister for Labor and Employment, Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment said, "In addition, something happened in the missile attack on the residence of our chief consultant in Dubai, but he is unharmed."
He further said, "Last night, several flights to the Middle East were stopped. On the instructions of the Prime Minister, we have arranged accommodation for about 850 people on these flights. Considering today's situation, flights can operate in some places. However, we want to tell our citizens that life is more valuable than time and money. Therefore, when the situation normalizes, the government will give guidelines. Until then, we have to be patient."
He addressed the citizens of Bangladesh living in the Middle East, saying that they should stay away from all areas where there are military installations and take shelter in safe places, as well as keep their country's documents in hand. Besides, if they face any major problems, our embassies are opening some hotlines to contact them.
At that time, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Mohammad Shahid Hossain Chowdhury and Police Superintendent Abu Yusuf along with officials from various departments of the administration were present. Later, the State Minister left for Dhaka. Earlier, the State Minister was given a guard of honor by the administration.
