Israel and the United States launched a joint attack on Iran on Saturday morning (February 28). It caused extensive damage and casualties. However, Iran launched a retaliatory strike and caused significant damage to US military bases in the Middle East, but Israel did not release any casualties.
This is the first time the country's military has acknowledged two deaths. In addition, at least 85 people are hospitalized in critical condition, Tel Aviv said. However, more than 450 Israelis injured in Iran's retaliatory attacks since Saturday have been admitted to various local hospitals. Most of them have returned home after treatment.
Israeli Defense Force (IDF) spokeswoman Effie Defrin said that two Israelis were killed in Iran's retaliatory attack. In a briefing, Defrin said that despite the IDF's extensive air defense system being operational, it is not completely flawless.
He called on the Israeli people to follow the instructions of the authorities and to stay in safe shelters during the attack. Defrin claimed that the IDF had caused “serious damage” to Iran’s defenses. He added that Israel was working with the US military to continue its attacks.
“We will continue these attacks until we achieve all our goals,” he said.
In addition to the two killed, the Israeli Health Ministry said 456 people had been hospitalized since the attack on Iran began. Of those, 86 are still hospitalized and in intensive care units (ICUs).
