The Election Commission (EC) has decided not to assign private bank officials to election duties for the time being in view of the 13th National Parliament elections. Election Commissioner Abul Fazal Md. Sanaullah gave this information after a review meeting held on Sunday (December 7) on the schedule, referendum and pre- and post-poll activities.

He said that the presiding officers, assistant presiding officers and polling officers will be appointed from among the officials of government and semi-government banks. The decision not to assign private bank officials to election duties for the time being will remain effective.

At that time, the commissioner said that the schedule will be announced this week. From the day of the announcement of the schedule, two executive magistrates will be responsible in each upazila to ensure the code of conduct.

Regarding the voting schedule, he said that the voting will continue from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm. That is, the time has been extended by one hour compared to the previous one. He also said that the ballots will be delivered to the respective centers the night before the election.

He also said that no one holding a government position will be able to participate in the election. Responding to a question from reporters whether the two advisors will be able to participate in the election while holding their positions, EC Sanaullah said, "We will see when the time comes. It (participating in the election) is not possible for anyone."
