Earthquake shakes Taiwan’s capital

A 5.1-magnitude earthquake has struck Taiwan. There were no immediate reports of damage.
The quake struck 18 kilometers (11 miles) from the city of Hualien on Thursday (December 18).
The Taipei Meteorological Administration said the quake was 31.6 kilometers (19.6 miles) below the surface.
Reuters reported that the quake shook buildings briefly in the capital Taipei. Local authorities have issued warnings and are monitoring the situation.
