A funeral in the US and a protest rally have been held in the US in connection with the murder of Inqilab Manch spokesperson Sharif Osman Hadi. Before the funeral held in New York on Friday (December 19), local time, expatriates participated in a protest rally and demanded exemplary punishment for the killers and reiterated their commitment to building Hadi's dream of a 'Bangladesh of Justice'.
In addition, after the Friday prayers, special prayers were offered in various mosques in New York seeking forgiveness for the soul of Osman Hadi. Representatives of the July faction and prominent figures from different levels of New York were present at the funeral and protest rally. Nazmul Islam, the khatib and teacher of Masjid Abrar, led the funeral prayer.
Speakers at the pre-funeral rally said that the fight against hegemony cannot be stopped by killing Hadi. They said that Sharif Osman Hadi's blood will not go in vain and the united struggle to build his dream of a 'Bangladesh of justice' will continue. The brave freedom fighters who participated in the protest rally also said that Bangladesh will not accept any kind of domination. In addition, Syed Mostakim, one of the leaders of the July Revolution in the United States, called on the government to quickly arrest the killers of Osman Hadi and ensure the safety of all citizens, including the July fighters.
NCP Diaspora Alliance Member Secretary Dr. Muhammad Abdul Mohaimin (Simon) said that Hadi dreamed of a Bangladesh free from domination and based on justice and led that struggle until he was martyred. He said that this murder was committed as part of a conspiracy and all pro-democracy forces must build a united resistance.
Meanwhile, prominent female leader Tasneem referred to Hadi's murder as a warning sign. He said, the July fighters brought this government to power at the cost of a lot of blood, but the dream of change they had agitated for has not yet been fulfilled - this is the most painful thing.
At that time, prominent poet and writer Masum Ahmed said, when everyone in the country and abroad is demanding justice for Hadi's murder, the incidents of arson and vandalism in various places are worrying. He said, Hadi dreamed of a just Bangladesh, but many are forgetting that main goal due to his death.
Syed Al Amin, advisor to the Bangladesh Student Association, said that this murder was committed as part of a conspiracy to thwart the country's upcoming elections. He called on all forces supporting the July uprising to unite and resist all evil forces.
Meanwhile, a silent funeral and prayer mahfil was held at the Namirah (Muna Center) Mosque in Jackson Heights, New York, on Friday (December 19) after Jumma prayers under the banner of 'Human Rights and Development for Bangladesh' (HRDB). Later in the afternoon, a memorandum was presented at the New York Consulate Office under the leadership of Mahbubur Rahman, one of the directors of HRDB.
Consul Arifur Rahman, First Secretary of the Bangladesh Consulate Office in New York, and Kamrun Nahar accepted the memorandum. At that time, HRDB leaders Naeem Uddin, Nasir Uddin Ahmed, Hamimur Rahman Hamim, Mohammad Sayeed, Abdus Sabur, Abul Kalam, Zahir Uddin, Mizanur Rahman Bhuiyan and others were present.
