61 Israeli soldiers commit suicide

A soldier has died at a military base in northern Israel. This is the 61st death of an Israeli soldier since Israel launched its operation in Gaza.

The Israeli media outlet Haaretz reported that the latest soldier to die was on active duty and was working as a 'tracker'. He was taken to hospital in critical condition after the incident on Tuesday, where doctors pronounced him dead in the evening.

Earlier, the Israeli army said that an Israeli soldier was seriously injured after being shot at a northern base. He later died in hospital. An investigation has been launched to determine the exact cause of the incident.

On the other hand, concerns have also been expressed about the mental stress and suicidal tendencies of Israeli soldiers. A Knesset report on October 28 of this year said that 279 soldiers attempted suicide from January 2024 to July 2025. The report shows that one soldier succeeded in committing suicide in every seven attempts.
