The Commonwealth has expressed its condolences over the death of Inqilab Manch spokesperson Sharif Osman Hadi.

In a statement published on the Commonwealth website on Saturday (December 20), the organization's Secretary-General Shirley Botchway expressed her condolences. She also expressed concern about the current situation in Bangladesh.
The Commonwealth Secretary-General said, "I express my solidarity with the grief of the ordinary people of Bangladesh on the death of Sharif Osman Hadi and extend my sincere condolences to his family and loved ones. I am deeply concerned about the current situation in Bangladesh following the recent violence in Dhaka and other parts of the country."
He added, "I call on the Bangladesh government to respect the rule of law and ensure the safety of all, including media workers." In this regard, I welcome the statement of the interim government, which has promised to hold those responsible for the violence accountable and has called on everyone to exercise restraint, responsibility and shun hatred. I also join in this call to maintain peace and show utmost patience and discretion in this critical time.’
On the afternoon of December 12, miscreants shot Osman Hadi in the head on Box Culvert Road in Purana Paltan, Dhaka. He was first treated at Dhaka Medical College Hospital and later at Evercare Hospital. When his condition deteriorated, Osman Hadi was taken to Singapore by air ambulance on December 15 for better treatment. He died while undergoing treatment there on Thursday (December 18).
