Iran has called on every American citizen and sensible official to oppose and 'reject' the ongoing US-Israeli military aggression against Iran. Iran has described the conflict, which began late last month, as an illegal and provocative aggression.
On Thursday (March 19), Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghai mentioned the resignation of Joseph Kent, director of the Trump administration's National Center for Counterterrorism (NCC), in a post on the social media platform Xe (formerly Twitter).
Kent resigned from his post in protest of the unprovoked war against Iran. In his resignation letter, Kent stated that as a sensible person, he could not support the war against Iran. In response to his comments, Baghai said, "This war is not a war for the American people, and it is the lowest moral duty of a conscientious American citizen or official to reject this illegal war."
Joseph Kent also claimed in his post that Iran was not an immediate threat to America. Rather, the United States entered the war because of pressure from Israel and the powerful Israeli lobby in that country. Kent's resignation is believed to have created deep divisions and questions about the rationale for the war within the Trump administration and among its staunch supporters.
Although President Trump has repeatedly given different reasons for the attack and denied Israeli pressure. Earlier this month, House Speaker Mike Johnson indicated that the White House believed Israel was determined to take this action alone, which created a difficult decision situation for the Republican president.
It is worth noting that on February 28, the United States and Israeli forces began the conflict by launching joint military strikes on various targets in Tehran. Since then, Iran has been retaliating by launching missile and drone attacks targeting Israeli-occupied territories and US bases in the Middle East.
