India defeated New Zealand by 96 runs in the final of the T20 World Cup at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, India on Sunday. Team India became the champion of the tournament for the third time.

Former captain of the Bangladesh cricket team and veteran cricketer of the national team Mushfiqur Rahim has posted a congratulatory message to the Indian team for winning the recently concluded T20 World Cup.

Mushfiqur Rahim wrote on his official Facebook, ‘Congratulations to the Indian team. A very worthy team has become the champion.’

Earlier in 2016, India exited the tournament after losing to the West Indies in the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup. After that defeat by 7 wickets at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, Mushfiqur wrote on social media, ‘This is joy. Ha ha ha. India lost in the semi-finals.’

Bangladesh did not participate in this edition of the World Cup. The Tigers were unable to play in India due to security concerns, which is why the ICC gave Scotland the opportunity to play instead of Bangladesh.
