Khichuri is one of the oldest and most popular dishes of the Indian subcontinent. Especially on rainy days, the smell of khichuri in the Bengali kitchen means a festive atmosphere. But is this delicious food really beneficial for our body? Nutritionist Shweta Shah said that khichuri is not only tasty, but also rich in nutrients and is very beneficial for the body if cooked healthily.

Benefits of khichuri: According to Hindustan Times, nutritionist Shweta Shah said that it would be wrong to think of khichuri as just a mixture of pulses and rice. In Ayurveda, it is considered one of the most powerful 'healing foods'. It is soft, warm and helps cleanse the inside of the body. Khichuri plays an important role in balancing the three doshas of the human body - vata, pitta and kapha.

Easy to digest food: Khichuri made from moong dal and rice is very easy to digest. Khichuri provides quick energy during stomach problems or weak digestion, but does not put pressure on the stomach.
Helpful in detox: Hot Khichuri cooked with ghee, ginger, turmeric, and cumin removes toxins from the body. Eating it regularly makes the body feel light and the digestive system stays clean.
Rich in nutrients: Dal contains protein, rice contains carbohydrates, and ghee aids digestion. Khichuri helps in regaining energy quickly after illness. If desired, adding seasonal vegetables or herbs increases the nutritional value further.
Khichuri provides a large part of the body's necessary nutrients. It keeps the body cool, removes toxins, and strengthens the digestive system and increases immunity. Therefore, homemade Khichuri is better than buying it from outside.

Khichuri is not a modern trend, but a nutritious and healthy food tested by ancient knowledge and experience. Khichuri can be an excellent choice for stomach problems, fatigue, or on a day of rest. So, rain or shine, you can safely eat nutritious khichdi with your family.
