Complaint filed against actresses Shaon, Mahi and three others at the police station

A written complaint has been filed against actresses Meher Afroz Shaon and Mahia Mahi and a woman named Shanta Farzana at the Shahbagh police station. They were charged with insulting the July Movement, making derogatory comments on social media and spreading misinformation.

Shahbagh Police Station OC Md. Moniruzzaman confirmed the matter to Jugantor on Saturday afternoon. He said, "A GD has been filed. An investigation is underway in this regard. Further action will be taken as per the law after the investigation."

Three representatives of an organization called 'Rashtra Sanglap Forum' filed a complaint against them on Friday morning.

The GD states that the accused have made various statements and posts on social media insulting and sarcastically criticizing the July Movement, which is an attempt to create confusion in the public mind and question the spirit of the movement. A request has been made to investigate these matters and take legal action.

It is learnt that an investigation is underway into the matter of the complaint. The complaint has been sent to the Cyber ​​Crime Unit (DB Cyber) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) for further legal proceedings. The Cyber ​​Division will verify the social media posts, statements and related links mentioned in the complaint. If the investigation finds the allegations to be true, further action will be taken.
