State Minister for Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment Md. Nurul Haque Nur said that the continuation of the quota reform movement later gave rise to the anti-discrimination student movement. That movement took the form of the mass movement of 2024 and the continuation of this has created the reality of today's Bangladesh.

He said that the people of the country have been struggling for a long time to establish people's rights, good governance, accountability and a non-discriminatory state system. The movements led by the youth have paved the way for important changes in the political reality of Bangladesh. Now, political parties have to play a responsible role in implementing that expectation.

He said these things as the chief guest at a view-exchange meeting organized by the Dumki Upazila branch of the People's Rights Council (GOP) at the Dumki Upazila Auditorium in Patuakhali at 5:30 pm on Friday (July 3).

He also said that to bring positive changes in the political culture of the country, people-centered politics must be established instead of individual-centered politics. We must come out of the negative culture of corruption, occupation, extortion and partisanship and do politics for the welfare of the people. He called for building a modern, democratic and humane Bangladesh by involving the young generation in the work of nation-building.

Speaking as a special guest, agriculturist Md. Shahidul Islam Fahim, a member of the Higher Council of the People's Rights Council, said that it is necessary to ensure mutual respect, democratic practice and accountability among political parties to fulfill the expectations of the people.

The meeting, held under the chairmanship of the President of the People's Rights Council (GOP) Dumki Upazila branch, Md. Munna Farazi, and moderated by the member secretary Md. Nasir Uddin Jewel, was also addressed by former Upazila BNP President Principal Bahauddin Bahar, President of the Press Club Dumki, Principal Md. Jasim Uddin Sumon, President of the Private School-College Teachers' Association, Principal Md. Jamal Hossain, freedom fighter Sohrab Sharif and assistant teacher of Jalisha Disabled School, Md. Sohel Khan.

Local people from different classes and professions, teachers, journalists, political leaders and activists, representatives of civil society and leaders and activists of the People's Rights Council participated in the exchange of views.
