The promise made by Shiva and Joy after winning the election of the Film Artists Association

After a long time, the premises of the FDC were seen as a star-studded gathering for a month. The 2026-28 biennial election of the Bangladesh Film Artists Association was held on Friday. In this election, villain actor Shiva Shanu was elected as the president and hero Joy Chowdhury was elected as the general secretary.

Shiva Shanu won the election by getting 243 votes. His rival fighter and producer Arman was defeated by getting 173 votes. On the other hand, Joy Chowdhury was elected as the general secretary by getting 237 votes. His rival Rumana Islam was defeated by getting 179 votes.

After winning the 2026-28 biennial election of the Bangladesh Film Artists Association, newly elected president Shiva Shanu and general secretary Joy Chowdhury spoke at a press conference. At that time, they expressed gratitude to the voters. In addition, they expressed their firm determination to work for the rights and welfare of ordinary artists in the future.

The new president Shiva Shanu became emotional with deep respect for the love and trust of the voters. The villain said, those who voted for me had so much faith in me, so much love for me that how I will fully honor their love and trust is what has made me more anxious now.

He said, it is not yet time for me to wear this garland of flowers around my neck. I will wear it from the artists on the day I can fulfill their promise.

On the other hand, actor Joy Chowdhury, who won the post of general secretary, gave an account of the entire journey of his election panel. Expressing his hope of forming a beautiful and effective committee with the cooperation of everyone, the actor said, we will form a beautiful council. Accordingly, we started our journey with such a hardworking and kind-hearted person, who was our presidential candidate, along with many of our seniors.

Joy Chowdhury said, as their associate, everyone's favorite Subrata Da had arranged his total team and Jackie Bhai was also with him. The path of the election campaign was quite difficult. All in all, our journey was not as easy as we managed to organize ourselves so easily.

These two newly elected leaders pledged to work together for the development of the country's film industry by holding the hands of ordinary artists.

It is worth noting that the voting for the Film Artists' Association elections was held on Friday (July 3) from 9 am to 6 pm. There was a one-hour break in between - from 1 pm to 2 pm. The FDC premises were bustling with the presence of film artists for a month around the election. The busyness of the candidates, the influx of supporters, and various campaigns have seen an election atmosphere in the entire area. The main competition in this election is between two panels. One of the panels is - Armaan and Rumana Islam Mukti. The other has Shiba Shanu and Joy Chowdhury.
