Trump’s sarcasm during the state funeral of martyr Khamenei

The six-day state funeral of Iran's former supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has begun. At this time, US President Donald Trump claimed that the US had 'hurt Iran terribly' and the country had been 'given a week' for the funeral.

In a speech at Mount Rushmore on the occasion of the 250th anniversary of US independence, Trump said, 'We lost Venezuela in one day and we have hurt Iran terribly. Now they are desperate for a compromise. We have given them a week for the funeral, because we are good people.'

Ali Khamenei was killed in a joint US-Israeli airstrike on February 28. The attack triggered the US-Iran war. Although Islamic Sharia law generally requires burial within 24 hours of death, his funeral was delayed due to war conditions.

Despite the signing of the US-Iran deal last month, there have been several rounds of gunfire between the two sides in the Middle East. The ceasefire has reached a fragile state, but the level of conflict has eased in recent days.

Iran has begun a state funeral for Khamenei since July 4. As part of the six-day event, religious ceremonies will be held in the city of Qom on July 7. He will be buried in his birthplace, the holy city of Mashhad in the northeast, on July 9.

Posters and billboards with Khamenei's image have been put up in various parts of the country, including Tehran, ahead of the funeral. Some mourners were seen carrying a banner with anti-Trump slogans at the event held at the Grand Mosque.

The representative of Iran's Supreme Leader in India, Ayatollah Hakim Elahi, was quoted as saying that Ali Khamenei's son and current Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei will not attend his father's funeral in public for security reasons.

He said that Mojtaba's public appearance could be dangerous due to the threat from Israel and the risk of surveillance.

At the funeral, a small coffin of Ali Khamenei's 14-month-old granddaughter was placed next to his coffin. She was also killed in the US-Israeli attack. At the same time, the bodies of several other members of Khamenei's family who were killed in the attack were also placed next to his coffin.
