A legendary chapter in the international entertainment world has come to an end. Famous German twins Alice and Ellen Kessler breathed their last on November 17. The 89-year-old twin sisters died through medical aid in dying at their home near Munich.
The German newspaper Bild reported that for a long time they had thought they did not want to live anymore. So the two said goodbye to the world on the same day, in the same process. After the entire process was completed, the police were informed. In an interview last year, the Kessler twins said that they wanted to be buried in the same place after death. They would even be buried next to their mother Elsa and beloved dog Yellow.
Alice and Ellen Kessler's talent fascinated Europeans. The twin sisters, who took the European entertainment world by storm in the 1950s and 60s, had a career that was a remarkable combination of singing, dancing, and television.

Alice and Ellen were especially popular in Italy, where they were called the “Legs of Two Nations,” and their beauty, grace, and stage performances made them unique at the time.
Incidentally, medical aid in dying has been legal in Germany since 2019. It is different from euthanasia, where the doctor administers the drug to end life, but the patient takes it himself. Euthanasia is still illegal in Germany. After their deaths, Radio Monte Carlo said in an emotional message, "Alice and Ellen lived together, they died together. They are shining symbols of European entertainment, whose contribution will never be forgotten."
