Bollywood's famous director Vikram Bhatt and his wife Shwetambari have been sent to jail by a court in a Rs 30 crore fraud case. According to a Midday report, a court in Udaipur had sent the couple to seven-day police custody on December 9. After that period expired, their lawyer sought interim bail on Tuesday (December 16) citing medical necessity. However, the court rejected the application and ordered both of them to be sent to judicial custody.

The accused's lawyer, Advocate Manzoor Hussain, said that an application for interim bail was made for medical reasons. Everything depended on the court's decision. In the end, the court ordered judicial custody.

Meanwhile, DSP Suryaveer Singh told the media that they will be kept in judicial custody as per the court's order. They will be shifted to Udaipur Central Jail very soon.

The police arrested Vikram Bhatt and his wife from Mumbai on December 7. The next day, they were taken to Udaipur and produced before the court. A total of eight people, including Vikram Bhatt, his wife, have been charged in this case. Indira IVF Hospital founder Dr. Ajay Murdia has alleged that the accused took about Rs 30 crore from him by promising to make a biopic on his late wife. It was said that the movie would earn more than Rs 200 crore. But in reality, no movie was made. An FIR was filed in this incident at Bhopalpura police station in Udaipur under multiple sections, including cheating. The complaint also states that fake bills and documents were used for cheating.

Earlier, Vikram Bhatt claimed innocence in the case. He said that the information in the FIR is misleading and wrong information was given to the police. He claims that the case against him may have been framed by making fake documents.
