‘If we talk about the old constitution, Hasina will have to be accepted as the Prime Minister’

National Citizen Party convener and MP Nahid Islam said, if we talk about the old constitution, then fascist Hasina will have to be accepted as the Prime Minister now. Will you accept that? If you are talking about the constitution, then the interim government was not formed according to the constitution. This Chief Justice was not formed. Tarique Rahman’s government was also not formed according to the constitution.

He said these things at the pre-Iftar Mahfil rally organized by the NCP at the Comilla Station Club on Tuesday evening.

Nahid Islam said, referendum, trial, and reforms must be implemented. Sheikh Hasina’s trial must be ensured. You should not unnecessarily muddy the waters. We were in favor of yes in the referendum. Yes won. But the people’s vote of that referendum is being taken to the court. The legitimacy of the referendum is being challenged in the court. We will not accept that. Do not take the people’s mandate to the court and make the court controversial. If we take the people’s verdict to the court, we will be forced to take to the streets. Parliament should be declared as a reform council. All reforms should be implemented according to the popular vote. We will not accept any alternative.

Addressing the BNP, he said, "You should not try to destabilize the situation. We should immediately demand the return of Sheikh Hasina to India. If she is not returned, relations with India will not be normal."

Addressing India, Nahid Islam said, "To establish relations with Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina must be returned, the July Uprising must be accepted, and the murderers of Sharif Osman Hadi must be returned. Only then will we consider restoring relations with India."

This Iftar Mahfil was organized by the Comilla division as part of the NCP's 10-day program to implement the aspirations of the July Uprising and mark one year of struggle for civil rights.

Special guests spoke at the event - NCP member secretary and MP Akhtar Hossain, spokesperson Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan, southern region chief organizer and Comilla-4 constituency MP Hasnat Abdullah, northern region chief organizer Sarjis Alam, NCP chief coordinator Nasir Uddin Patwary, National Youth Power convener Tariqul Islam. Comilla divisional organizing secretary Md. Ataullah and divisional leaders were present.

In his special guest speech, Sarjis Alam said, we want to implement Bangladesh with the aspirations of the 24th. We have to win the local elections in the coming days by a landslide. We have to stand on our own feet on the streets.
Spokesperson Asif Mahmud said, a conspiracy is being hatched regarding the referendum. We are ready to take to the streets to implement the July Charter.

Chief Coordinator Nasir Uddin Patwari said, "We must ensure the trial of Shaheed Usman Hadi. No matter how much you cheat, there will be no benefit. We will get Hadi's trial." Addressing BNP, he said, "You are deviating from the ideals of Shaheed Zia and Khaleda Zia."

Member of Parliament Hasnat Abdullah said, "Bangladesh must be rebuilt according to the referendum verdict. The July martyrs cannot be betrayed. We are committed to building a society of justice."

Member of Parliament Akhtar Hossain said, "We do not want to go back to the former Bangladesh in any way." NCP is working to fulfill the expectations of the people of the country. We will speak for justice in every case. We will stand against injustice, terrorism, extortion.
