Remittances worth 4,599 crore taka in two days

Around the holy Ramadan and the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr, remittances or expatriate income flow has remained positive this month (March). In the first two days of the month, 377 million US dollars in remittances were received, which is 4,599 crore 40 lakh taka in local currency (122 taka per dollar).

Bangladesh Bank spokesperson Arif Hossain Khan gave this information on Tuesday (March 3) afternoon. According to Bangladesh Bank data, 188 million dollars in remittances were received in the first two days of March last year. Accordingly, expatriate income has increased by 100 percent this month.

According to Bangladesh Bank data, 2283 million dollars in remittances were received from July 1 to March 2 of the current fiscal year. 1867 crore 80 lakh dollars came in during the same period of the last fiscal year.

Meanwhile, expatriates sent 3.2 billion dollars in remittances in the just-ended February. Bank officials have stated that the strong remittance flow is having a positive impact on foreign exchange reserves.
