Amid the ongoing conflict between the US, Israel and Iran in the Middle East, Iran has claimed the destruction of a US advanced radar system in Qatar. Some media outlets in the country reported that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) completely destroyed the important US early warning radar AN/FPS-132 in the Gulf region with a precision missile attack.

According to the Tehran-based media report, this radar, capable of monitoring a distance of about 5,000 kilometers, was installed at the Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar. The radar, installed in 2013 at a cost of about $1.1 billion, was used as an important part of the ballistic missile detection and prevention system.

The IRGC claimed that the successful attack created a major weakness in the air defense systems of the US and its allies in the Gulf region. It was also claimed that some Qatari officials admitted to the damage. However, the United States has not yet made any official comment on the matter.

If the claim is true, it could have a major impact on the regional military balance and intensify the ongoing conflict, according to analysts.
