US stands with Saudi Arabia

Yemen's Houthi rebel group launched a missile attack on Saudi Arabia. After that, the US said that it is committed to ensuring the security of Saudi Arabia. At the same time, Washington has reiterated its commitment to stand by Riyadh against the attacks by the Houthi rebels.
A US State Department spokesperson told Al Arabiya English, "The United States stands firmly with Saudi Arabia against Iranian aggression and the Iran-backed Houthi attacks. At the same time, we are committed to protecting Saudi Arabia's security and regional stability."
He also said that the US-Saudi relationship is one of the most important pillars of Washington's Middle East policy. He also claimed that this strategic partnership has been strengthened under the leadership of President Donald Trump.
The spokesperson said that confronting the Houthis in Yemen and holding Tehran accountable for Iran's support for them remains a US priority. He reminded that the Trump administration had re-designated the Houthis as a foreign terrorist organization shortly after taking office.
The US State Department official said that ensuring safe navigation in the Red Sea is a vital US national security interest, and that it is essential to continue operations against the Iran-backed Houthis and other terrorist groups operating in Yemen.
