A female doctor suffered a mental breakdown after her US visa application was rejected. She later allegedly committed suicide. The incident took place in Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh, India. On Sunday (November 23), the Gulf News reported, citing police, that the incident came to light on Saturday when her family members, who were on the other side of the city, broke down the door and entered the flat after repeatedly knocking.

Police said that the 38-year-old female doctor was found unconscious inside the flat. According to police, her housekeeper first informed the family members when the door did not open. Later, the police recovered the body and handed it over to the family after an autopsy. It is initially believed that she had taken an overdose of sleeping pills or had injected herself. However, the real reason can be confirmed after receiving the autopsy report.

Police have recovered a suicide note, which reportedly mentions depression and the recent cancellation of her visa. The doctor was preparing to pursue a career in medicine in the US, PTI quoted her mother as saying.

She lived in Padma Rao Nagar as the nearby libraries were convenient for her preparation for foreign trips and higher studies. She had planned to pursue higher studies in internal medicine. The mother said her daughter was very talented. She completed her MBBS in Kyrgyzstan from 2005 to 2010. She had dreams of a bright future.

The mother further claimed that she had asked her daughter to continue her medical practice in India, but she felt that she would have more opportunities in the US, with better income and comparatively less patient load. The female doctor was unmarried and lived a career-oriented life. Chilkalguda police have registered a case. An investigation is underway to determine the exact cause and circumstances of the incident.
