Messi faces the nightmare again after 13 years

He is scoring goals, shining with his personal performances, but Lionel Messi's Inter Miami can't seem to find a win. The team's continuous failures are also fading the personal success of the Argentine superstar. Inter Miami will face CF Montreal at the Nu Stadium in Major League Soccer (MLS) on September 30. According to Spanish media outlet AS, if they fail to win this match, the Florida club will be without a win in five consecutive matches. And the last time Messi went five consecutive matches without a win in his professional career was in 2013, while playing for Barcelona.

Inter Miami lost 2-1 to Toronto FC in their last match. Messi scored a goal in that match, but could not save the team from defeat. Losing points one match after another is putting pressure on team coach Guillermo Hoyos. Taking the responsibility for the failure on his shoulders, he said, "Everything that is happening now is my responsibility. The situation we are going through is hurting everyone. There is also anxiety."

However, such a situation is not entirely new for Inter Miami. Last season, the team was winless in four consecutive matches. However, after two losses and two draws, they turned around brilliantly. After that, Miami overcame the crisis by winning five consecutive matches. 

One of the longest winning streaks of Messi's personal career came in 2013, when Barcelona went five games without a win. After a draw with Celta Vigo, the Catalan club drew two games against PSG and Athletic Bilbao before ending their five-match winless streak with a 4-0 defeat to Bayern Munich in the Champions League semi-finals.

Messi is now worried about the return of that uncomfortable memory. If he fails to win against Montreal, he will experience another five-match winless streak after 13 years.
