Guinness World Records for Cats

A cat usually has 18 toes on all four feet. However, a cat with 29 toes on all four feet has been found in Wisconsin, USA. 

A Maine Coon cat has been named in the Guinness World Records for its rare features. Guinness World Records officials confirmed through testing that the cat has a total of 29 toes on its four feet.

The cat, named Erebus Anomaly, is owned by American couple Kendra Vandenbloomer and Hunter Nett. 

Erebus looks different because he has 11 extra toes and his paws are much larger than those of a normal cat. However, despite having so many toes, his owners, an American couple, say that he has no problems walking or living a normal life.

This trait of having more toes than normal is called polydactyly in medical terms. Although this trait is seen in Maine Coon cats, having a total of 29 toes on all four feet is extremely rare.

The previous record for the most toes in a cat was 28. A cat named Jake from Canada first set the record in 2002. Later, earlier this year, another cat named Toby from Michigan, USA, also shared the record with 28 toes.

However, this time, Erebus has surpassed the previous two record holders by adding an extra toe. As a result, the American cat has set a new single record for the cat with the most toes in the world, with 29 toes.

Erebus's owners, Kendra Vandenbloomer and Hunter Nate, who breed Maine Coons under the name Blue Northern Maine Coons, said they had been aware of Erebus' unusual foot structure since birth, and that the cat might one day set a new record.

That idea has finally come true. With 29 toes, Erebus is now the new record holder for the cat with the most toes in the world, as recognized by Guinness World Records.
