Brazilian footballer sets record for fastest Premier League goal

Chelsea's Brazilian striker Joao Pedro made history in the first week of the Premier League season when he scored in the first minute of the match against Fulham at Craven Cottage on Monday night (August 24). 

He scored just 31 seconds into the match. Pedro skillfully controlled a through ball from Chelsea star Cole Palmer and entered the D-box. The Brazilian then chipped the ball over the goalkeeper and into the Fulham net. 

The famous statistics company 'Opta' confirmed that the ball entered the net in exactly 31 seconds. With this, the Chelsea forward set the record for the fastest goal in the first round of a season in Premier League history. 

Joao Pedro scored the fastest goal in history in his first match, putting his name directly at the top of the record books. 

Before Joao Pedro's 31-second goal, the record for the fastest goal in the opening round of the Premier League was held by former Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette, who scored 94 seconds (1 minute 34 seconds) against Leicester City in the opening match of the 2017–18 season.
