BPL to start with 6 teams on December 19

There are various dramas going on regarding the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). Initially, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) had planned to organize the 12th edition of the BPL with 5 teams. However, ahead of the player auction, the number of new teams has been increased by one.

The BCB organized a press conference on the BPL on Wednesday (November 26). There, BCB Director and BPL Governing Council Member Secretary Iftekhar Rahman Mithu said that it was announced that the BPL will be a 6-team event this time. Noakhali has been added as the sixth team.

This season will start from December 19. The final will be held on January 19. Earlier, the BPL inaugural ceremony will be organized in Dhaka on December 17.

Rangpur Riders, Dhaka Capitals, Sylhet Titans, Chittagong Royals, Rajshahi Warriors and newcomer Noakhali Express are participating in this year's BPL. Before the auction, each team is getting the opportunity to directly sign two domestic and two foreign cricketers.

Meanwhile, the auction date has already been postponed three times. The auction will be held at a five-star hotel in the capital at 3 pm on November 30. More than 500 foreign cricketers have applied to participate in the auction in this year's BPL. Out of these, the BCB has selected 250 cricketers.
