Serbian tennis star Novak Djokovic has expressed his desire to participate in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics at the age of 41. The 38-year-old former world number one is currently reaching the end of his career and has recently been facing fitness issues. However, after winning the gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics, he has said that he wants to represent his country at the 2028 Olympics.
Djokovic will be 41 when the Olympics begin on July 14, 2028. However, he said that his goal is still to retain the Olympic title. "Yes, it is a long way off, but it is a big goal at this stage of my life. But I hope to get there," he told a television channel.
He defeated former world number one Yannick Cener in the semifinals of the recently concluded Australian Open, but lost to current number one Carlos Alcaraz in the final. After the loss, Djokovic said he may reduce his match schedule to prepare for the 2028 Olympics. "God knows what will happen tomorrow, let alone six or 12 months from now," he said. "It's been a great journey. I love you all."
He added, "I'm not sure yet, but I want to play until the 2028 Olympics. That could mean a few tournaments a year, or maybe 10-15, or nothing at all. I don't want to make a decision right now. All I want to do now is spend time with my family, and then we'll see."
