Popular Bengali film actress Jayashree Kabir is no more

A popular Bengali film actress Jayashree Kabir is no more (Inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi rajiun). She passed away in London on January 12. She was 72 years old at the time of her death. She is survived by a son. Jayashree Kabir's death was confirmed to the media by renowned filmmaker Alamgir Kabir's nephew Javed Mahmud.
Jayashree Kabir was awarded the title of 'Miss Calcutta' in 1968. She entered the film industry in the 1970s through a film directed by Satyajit Ray based on the original story of Sunil Gangopadhyay at the behest of Priya Films. Coming into the film industry, she won the hearts of the audience through the film Surya Kanyar directed by Alamgir Karib. She played the heroine in four of Alamgir Kabir's films.
Other notable films in which he acted are: Kolkata's 'Protidhi' (1970), Dhaka's 'Suryakanya' (1975), Kolkata's 'Adhaar' (1976), Dhaka's 'Seemana Periye' (1977), 'Rupali Saikat' (1979), 'Dena Paona' (1981), 'Mohana' (1982), 'Nalish' (1982), 'Purskar' (1983) and 'Shahar Te Dore' (1984).
Jayshree Kabir had been living in London for a long time. He was a teacher of English literature at a university there.
