New information has emerged in the shooting incident in front of American pop star Rihanna's Los Angeles residence. Police have arrested a woman on suspicion of involvement in the incident. She has been charged with multiple serious charges, including attempted murder. If the charges are proven, she could face life in prison.
According to police information, the accused woman's name is Ivana Lisette Ortiz (35). She is a resident of Orlando, Florida, USA. On March 8, around noon local time, she allegedly came to Rihanna's home in Beverly Hills, California and fired several rounds from an AR-15 semi-automatic rifle.
Police said that several bullets fired from outside penetrated the wall of the house and entered the house. Although various international media claimed that Rihanna was at home at the time of the incident, fortunately no one was injured. Authorities have confirmed that Rihanna and her children are safe.
The woman fled the scene after the shooting. Her white Tesla was later recovered from the Sherman Oaks Galleria shopping center, about eight miles from Rihanna's home. Police arrested her from there. An assault rifle case was also recovered from the scene. Ortiz was arraigned in Los Angeles Criminal Court on Tuesday (March 10), two days after the incident. The court has set the next hearing date for March 25.
Prosecutors allege that Ortiz faces multiple charges, including attempted murder, assault with a semi-automatic weapon, and shooting at a residence. If convicted of these charges, he could face a maximum sentence of life in prison.
Investigators also found posts on the woman's social media, in which she wrote several messages to Rihanna. In one post, she wrote, "Are you there? Talk to me directly instead of hiding." Local authorities have said security at Rihanna's Los Angeles residence has been stepped up since the incident.
