‘Miss Universe’ is one of the beauty pageants. The 74th edition of ‘Miss Universe’ was held in a grand ceremony in Thailand. Mexican beauty Fatima Bosch won the Miss Universe crown in this edition.
This information was learned from a report by CNN on Friday (November 21). According to the report, 25-year-old Fatima was crowned the winner by last year’s winner Victoria Kjer Thielvig of Denmark.
Thailand’s Pravinar Singh was the runner-up in this edition. The top five were made up of Venezuela’s Stephanie Absali, Philippines’ Ahtisa Manalo, and Ivory Coast’s Olivia Yassi.
After the swimsuit round in the final round, the number of top 30 contestants was reduced to 12. And after the evening round, 5 were selected from there.
In this round, the contestants were asked - what global issue would they speak about before the United Nations General Assembly and how would they use the Miss Universe platform to empower young women?
Miss Universe is widely known around the world as the 'Super Bowl' of beauty pageants. Every year, the event attracts millions of viewers. Every year, representatives are selected through local competitions. Which are approved by the Miss Universe Organization at the local level.
This year's host country of Miss Universe is Thailand. This vibrant competition in the country has the largest fan base in Asia, as well as the Philippines. The competition is held for three weeks. In it, the representatives travel all over the country to participate in rehearsals and events.
Representatives from 120 countries participated in the competition. Nadine Ayoub became the first woman to represent Palestinian citizens in the competition and made it to the final 30 semi-finalists before being eliminated. The final episode was hosted by American comedian Steve Byrne and began with a performance by Thai musician Jeff Satur.
