Popular singer of the 90s, Jens Sumon, is no more (Inna lillahi wa inna ilahi rajiun). He breathed his last at the National Heart Institute and Hospital in the capital on Friday (November 28) at around 4 pm. Musician and lyricist Ethun Babu confirmed the matter to the media.

Jens Sumon's real name is Ghalib Ahsan Mehedi. In 2002, he gained immense popularity by performing the song 'Ekta Chadar Hobe' with Ethun Babu's lyrics, tunes and music in a magazine program on Bangladesh Television. The artist has sung about 300 songs in his long career.

Jens Sumon's first solo album 'Aashirbad' was released in 1997. Then came 'Akash Kendeche', 'Atithi', 'Ashabadi', 'Ekta Chadar Hobe', 'Aay Tora Aay', 'Cherry' etc. And in 2008, his last album 'Mon Chalo Ruper Nagare' was released.

Although his music was somewhat irregular in the later years, the love of the audience never diminished. As a result, after a 16-year break, this musician was active in singing since last year. His song 'Asman Zamin' was released in 2024. The latest song titled 'Ami Chaib Na' was released.

At that time, he announced that some more new songs were coming. Before that, this popular artist left the world. His death has cast a shadow of grief on the country's entertainment scene.
