Bangladesh open for business, ready for future: PM

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman said that Bangladesh is open for business, ready for the future and keen to build a deeper industrial partnership with China. The Prime Minister made this statement to the country's businessmen at the Diaoyutai Hotel in Beijing at 10:30 am local time on Thursday (June 25). At the same time, she urged Chinese companies to expand their value chain in Bangladesh.
In her speech to the Chinese businessmen, the Prime Minister said that the government is implementing a 180-day action plan to revamp the international capital-related procedures. Through this, initiatives have been taken to reduce bureaucratic complexity, digitize government services, ensure policy consistency and create an investment-friendly environment.
The Prime Minister also said that a Chinese economic and industrial zone is being developed in Anwara and a second economic zone in Mongla. In addition, Bangladesh's first 'investment office' in China will be launched soon to provide more effective services to Chinese investors.
At the conference organized by the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA), BIDA Executive Chairman Ashiq Chowdhury gave a special presentation to Chinese businessmen on investment opportunities in Bangladesh. 125 Chinese businessmen participated in the conference.
Also present at the conference were Water Resources Minister Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie, State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism M. Rashiduzzaman Millat, State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Anindya Islam Amit, Prime Minister's Finance Advisor Rashed Al Mahmud Titumir, Prime Minister's Foreign Affairs Advisor Humayun Kabir, and Prime Minister's Advisor on Education, Primary and Mass Education, Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment and Labor and Employment Mahdi Amin, and Prime Minister's Additional Press Secretary Atiqur Rahman Rumon, among others.
