Approval for purchase of 40 million liters of edible oil, 22.5 thousand tons of pulses

The government has approved the purchase of 40 million liters of edible oil. Of this, 20 million liters of refined soybean oil and 20 million liters of refined palm olein will be purchased. The total cost of this will be 645 crore 6 lakh 95 thousand taka. The total cost will be 645 crore 6 lakh 95 thousand taka. In addition, approval has been given to purchase 22 thousand 500 metric tons of lentils.
This approval was given at the meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Government Procurement on Wednesday (June 24).
Based on the proposal of the Ministry of Commerce, a proposal to purchase 20 million liters of refined palm olein (in 2 liter PET bottles) locally through open tender (national) has been approved. This oil will be purchased from Shabnam Vegetable Oil Industries Limited, Dhaka, at a cost of 367 crore 90 lakh taka. The price of each liter of oil has been fixed at 183 taka 95 paisa.
In addition, based on another proposal of the Ministry of Commerce, a proposal to purchase 20 million liters of refined soybean oil through the international open tender system has been approved. This oil will be purchased from Australia's MCG International PTY Limited at a cost of 277 crore 16 lakh 95 thousand taka. The price of oil per liter has been fixed at 164 taka 77 paisa.
Meanwhile, the Cabinet Committee on Government Procurement has approved the purchase of 22,500 metric tons of lentils in a meeting. The total cost of this will be about 167 crore 24 lakh 15 thousand 625 taka.
In view of the proposal of the Ministry of Commerce, 10 thousand metric tons of lentils (in 50 kg bags) will be purchased locally through the open tender (national) system. These pulses will be purchased from Messrs. Payel Automatic Food Processing Mills of Chittagong at a cost of 81 crore 47 lakh taka. The price per kg will be 81 taka 47 paisa.
In addition, a proposal to purchase another 12,500 metric tons of lentils through an international open tender process has been approved. These pulses will be purchased from Australia's MCG International PTY Limited at a cost of Tk 857.715,625. The price per kilogram of pulses has been fixed at Tk 74.86.
