As part of the evacuation drive of risky buildings in Kuwait to avoid major accidents, the country's authorities have evacuated expatriates from various countries, including Bangladeshis, from various buildings in Hasabia and Abbasia areas. In addition, a temporary shelter has been set up in a government school in Hasabia area for the evacuated expatriates.

This information was given in a notice published on the Facebook page of the Bangladesh Embassy in Kuwait on Friday (July 17) night local time.

The notice said that a delegation of the embassy visited the situation of Bangladeshi citizens staying in the shelter. Led by the embassy's Counselor and Head of Mission Mohammad Moniruzzaman and Counselor of the Labor Welfare Section Shoaib-ul-Islam Tarafdar, the delegation spoke to the expatriates and inquired about them. They also held meetings with local Kuwaiti officials.

According to the decision of the authorities, expatriates with valid documents are being allowed to leave the shelters after verification. However, those staying illegally will be sent back to their respective countries through the deportation center.

Kuwaiti officials told the delegation that the campaign is being conducted to remove outdated and risky buildings and take action against foreign citizens staying illegally. Preparations are underway to conduct a similar campaign in other areas of the country.

In addition, people staying in temporary shelters will not be able to go out to work or for any other reason, even if they can stay there by showing the necessary documents.

Considering the situation, the Bangladesh Embassy has urged Bangladeshi citizens living in Kuwait to keep all valid documents related to housing up to date and to carry a civil ID or valid identity card with them when moving outside.
