BNP committee to welcome Tarique Rahman

BNP has formed a reception committee to mark the return of BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman. Salahuddin Ahmed, a member of the party's standing committee, has been appointed as the convener of the committee, and Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has been appointed as the member secretary. The committee was formed on Monday (December 15).

It is learned that the reception committee includes BNP's 10 divisional organizing secretaries, presidents and general secretaries of the constituent organizations, and the conveners and member secretaries of the Dhaka Metropolitan North and South Committees. The first meeting of the reception committee was held on Tuesday (December 16) afternoon. In this meeting, the members discussed the work plan for the reception on the occasion of Tarique Rahman's return.

Earlier, a joint meeting of BNP and constituent organizations was held at the Chairperson's office in Gulshan last Monday. The meeting discussed in detail how Tarique Rahman would be welcomed. The meeting was chaired by party Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.

Incidentally, Tarique Rahman is returning to Dhaka on December 25 after being in exile in London, UK for more than 17 years. On the occasion of his return, leaders and activists will be present at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on that day to welcome him. Leaders and activists will stand on both sides of the road from the airport to Evercare Hospital to welcome Tarique Rahman.

Party sources said that Tarique Rahman will go to Evercare Hospital from the airport. His mother Khaleda Zia is undergoing treatment there.
