Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has objected to some advisors in a meeting with Chief Advisor Professor Muhammad Yunus. However, the party did not disclose the names of those who objected.
After a meeting with the chief advisor at the Jamuna State Guest House on Wednesday evening, Jamaat's Naib-e-Amir Syed Abdullah Muhammad Taher told reporters, "I have spoken about those who are advisors, not about all of them. We have said that some people mislead you (the chief advisor). We have confidence in you. But we think some of your people are misguiding you and they work for a party. You need to be careful about them, about them."
A day ago, BNP had also raised objections to some advisors in a meeting with the chief advisor. The party had called on the chief advisor to exclude the controversial advisors without mentioning their names.
In response to a question from reporters whether any demands were raised for the removal of any advisors in the meeting, Abdullah Muhammad Taher said, "We are drawing attention on the first day... We did not demand their removal on the first day. We are saying, we are drawing attention now. We are giving time. We are letting you hear it too. If not, we will think about what we can do."
Stating that no demands were raised by the caretaker government, he said that the hearing on the caretaker government is still going on in the Supreme Court. His party is waiting for the Supreme Court's verdict. He also expressed hope that the interim government will play the role of the caretaker government if there is no deviation from the Supreme Court's verdict.
When asked what the chief advisor said in the wake of Jamaat-e-Islami's demands, the Jamaat-e-Islami leader said, "The chief advisor says that he is thinking deeply about these and will do whatever needs to be done, God willing."
Abdullah Muhammad Taher also told reporters that the meeting with the chief advisor discussed the implementation process of the July Charter, the referendum in late November, and the issuance of an 'extra-judicial arrangement' to implement the July Charter. He led a four-member delegation from Jamaat-e-Islami at the meeting.
