25-year action plan being formulated to ensure food security: Agriculture Secretary

A 25-year action plan is being formulated to ensure food security for all, make sustainable and profitable production systems, technology-based and commercial. Agriculture Secretary Dr. Mohammad Emdad Ullah Mian gave this information at a regional workshop organized by the Ministry of Agriculture at the Bangladesh Agricultural Research Council (BARC) auditorium at Farmgate in the capital on Thursday (October 23).

The Agriculture Secretary said, I hope to be able to present a plan by December this year to make the agricultural sector more developed and self-reliant by 2050. There are 17 departments under the Ministry of Agriculture. All the concerned here have to work in coordination.

Dr. Mohammad Emdad Ullah Mian said, we have to work with a well-planned goal. Our job will be to further develop the agricultural sector. The agricultural sector has improved a lot, we have to work to further develop this sector.

Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture Dr. Md. Dr. Xiaokun Shi, the representative of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in Bangladesh, delivered a special guest speech at the workshop chaired by Mahmudur Rahman.
