The main lesson of the mass uprising of '24 is change, the elders have learned from the politics of youth. If these thoughts of the youth are not retained, this achievement will be lost in exchange for blood, said Salahuddin Ahmed, a member of the BNP standing committee.

He made these comments while speaking as the chief guest at a seminar titled 'Education and Employment in the Thoughts of Youth in 24th Bangladesh' at the Zahur Hossain Hall of the National Press Club on Thursday (October 23). The seminar was organized by the University Teachers Association of Bangladesh (UTAB), an organization of university teachers.

Salahuddin Ahmed said, what are our expectations and thoughts in Bangladesh? We need to give importance to the thoughts of the new generation. That is why I have already held meetings and seminars to know the thoughts of the youth. The main lesson of 24th Bangladesh is change. We need to build a Bangladesh based on talent, knowledge and technology in all fields. No matter at what level of society we work, we have to work with social responsibility. In this regard, the role of teachers is extensive. Because they teach the young generation.

He said, the idea of the university is an institution for practicing research and open-mindedness. The sector-based research education system must be strengthened. So that we can take it to the global level through research. A work-oriented and timely curriculum must be determined.

He also said, we must employ our population. In this case, it is not enough to depend only on the government. Rather, we must be self-reliant and create employment on our own initiative.

Salahuddin Ahmed said, the change we are expecting after the July mass uprising must happen everywhere. The change in perspective is not just for the discriminatory job system or employment. It was an expression of public anger against the long 15/16 years of fascist rule. That is why the anti-government movement intensified at a rapid pace on a one-point basis and the mass uprising took place through many struggles and bloodshed.

He said, no matter how many reforms we do, we must first make mental reforms. Otherwise, no matter how many reforms we talk about, we will not be able to convert them into laws. If we can bring about a strong legal transformation of democratic and constitutional institutions, the nation will be liberated.

Salahuddin Ahmed said, yesterday a party said - we accepted the proposal for a referendum on the July Charter under pressure. We said - a referendum on the July Charter can be held on the day of the national election. Now a political party is looking for an opportunity to sign the July Charter. However, they have some demands. We hope there will be a good solution. The chief advisor of the interim government can give a legal framework to the July Charter by issuing orders and notifications. Everything must be done in terms of reality and by law.
