A fire at Shahjalal Airport in Dhaka, Bangladesh has been reported in international media. The fire broke out in the cargo village at Gate 8 of the airport on Saturday (October 18).
According to a report by Hindustan Times, Air India said that the AI237 flight from Delhi to Dhaka has been delayed due to the closure of Dhaka airport. For the same reason, the return flight of the Dhaka-bound flight, i.e. AI238 from Dhaka to Delhi, is also likely to depart late.
In a statement, Air India said that the Delhi-Dhaka flight AI237 scheduled for October 18 has been delayed due to the closure of Dhaka airport for all types of flights. As a result, the Dhaka-Delhi return flight AI238 is also likely to depart late. We regret the inconvenience caused to passengers in this unexpected situation.
The company also said that our ground team in Delhi and Dhaka is providing immediate assistance to passengers and is regularly informing them about the status of the flight. The safety of passengers and crew is always the top priority at Air India.
