The US is not yet ready to launch a military strike on Iran.

The influential US media outlet The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported that the US is not yet ready to launch a military strike on Iran. The report, citing anonymous US officials, said that the US does not want to launch any kind of attack until it deploys stronger air defense systems at US bases in the Middle East to counter Iranian counterattacks.

The report said that Washington has sent a large military force and weapons to the Middle East in the past few weeks. US President Donald Trump described it as a 'big and beautiful fleet'. The fleet is led by the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln, whose purpose was to put great pressure on Iran to agree to a new nuclear deal.

However, despite this military preparation, the US air strike on Iran is 'not happening anytime soon,' the WSJ reported. Because, it has not yet become fully possible for Washington to ensure the security of the US's Arab allies, including Israel, and US troops stationed in the Middle East.

The Pentagon is already deploying more air defense systems, such as THAAD and Patriot, to US bases in various countries, including Jordan, Kuwait, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar, defense officials said.

It is worth noting that in June last year, when the US and Israel attacked Iran's nuclear facilities, Iran attacked Israel in response and launched a missile attack on the US base at Al-Udeid in Qatar. Although the damage to the base was limited due to advance warning, the US is trying to overcome that weakness before launching the attack this time.

Meanwhile, Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has warned that if the US starts a war this time, it will turn into a "regional war spreading across the entire Middle East." In response, Trump said, "Of course he would say that," but at the same time indicated that the path to diplomacy was open.

On the other hand, Ali Larijani, the head of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, said that some progress was being made in talks with the United States. Russia has also called for dialogue and warned that the use of force could push the entire region into a dangerous instability.
