The interim government has provided funds for pay scale. The next elected government will not be able to change this decision, said Finance Advisor Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed. The Finance Advisor also said that it will take some time to implement the pay scale. The Finance Advisor told reporters after the meeting of the Procurement Advisory Council at the Secretariat on Tuesday (February 3).
Claiming that the country's economy is now in a 'satisfactory position', Salehuddin Ahmed said that it is not in a shaky state. If the next government takes charge, it will not face a major economic crisis. He said that the shaky economy after August 5 has been fixed in one and a half years.
He said, however, employment has decreased due to the closure of many unnecessary projects of the previous government. That will be a challenge, added the Finance Advisor. He said that an arbitration case has been filed in the context of allegations of money laundering by the S Alam Group. An agreement is being made with a British law firm to conduct the legal battle on this issue.
Regarding transparency, the financial advisor said that many government advisors, including himself, have submitted diplomatic passports. Commenting that Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) cannot see everything, he said, "I am not defaming them, but if we look into the basic issues, many things will become clear."
He said that the National Board of Revenue (NBR) will be effectively divided into two parts within the tenure of this government. He also assured that the work of 'rationalization' of electricity tariffs is underway and that it will not put additional pressure on the common people.
