Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said that Tehran does not want to enter into direct talks with the US on its nuclear or missile programs. He made it clear that the Islamic Republic will never give up its ability to enrich uranium.
The Times of Israel reported this in a report.
In an interview with the Qatar-based media outlet Al Jazeera, Araghchi said, "We will not negotiate our missile program. No intelligent state disarms itself. We cannot stop uranium enrichment - what is not possible through war is not possible in politics either. There is no desire for direct talks with the US, but it is possible to reach an agreement through indirect talks."
The Iranian Foreign Minister also said that Tehran is ready for talks to address international concerns about its nuclear program and that its program is completely peaceful. “A fair deal is possible, but the conditions that Washington has put forward are unacceptable and unrealistic,” he said.
Referring to Iran’s nuclear facilities damaged in recent attacks by Israel and the United States, Araghchi said, “Nuclear materials remain under the rubble of the bombing, they have not been moved anywhere. Despite the damage, the technology is intact.”
He also warned, “Tehran is ready for all kinds of situations and is also prepared for possible aggressive behavior by Israel.”
