Can Mamdani run for president of the United States?

34-year-old Zohram Mamdani, a Democratic Party candidate, has been elected as the first Muslim mayor of New York City. In many ways, Mamdani has made history in the New York elections.
He is the city's first Muslim mayor. He is also the first mayor of South Asian descent, the first mayor born in Africa. He is the youngest mayor of New York in the last 100 years.
After Zohram Mamdani's victory in the mayoral race of New York, his campaign is being compared to Barack Obama's historic run to become the first black US president.
But can Mamdani follow in that footsteps in the White House? The answer is–– No.
The reason for this is attributed to the late acquisition of US citizenship. Mamdani became a US citizen in 2018, but he was not a citizen at birth, which is required for a person to become president or vice president under current law.
Mamdani was born in Uganda in 1991 to Indian parents - neither of whom were US citizens at the time - and moved to the US at the age of seven.
