Trump threatens to attack Iran ’at any time’

The United States is ready to strike Iran again, President Donald Trump said on Wednesday (September 2) local time, telling reporters in the Oval Office that he could strike Iran again "whenever we want."

Trump claimed that the United States carried out a major attack on Iranian military equipment on Tuesday night (September 1). 

According to him, Iran was developing new radars, missile systems and mine-laying equipment near the Strait of Hormuz. He claimed that US forces had identified and destroyed these devices.

Trump said the United States has "very tight control" over the Strait of Hormuz, which is a vital waterway for oil tankers. He said Iran has occasionally launched drone attacks, but that they have been repelled.

He added, "We hit them very hard last night." Trump also claimed that all of Iran's newly developed military equipment had been destroyed.

According to him, these tools included both defensive and offensive systems.

Trump again warned Iran that it would never get a nuclear weapon, and he also indicated that the ongoing conflict may not last long.

Additionally, when asked about renaming the Strait of Hormuz as the 'Trump Strait', Trump said he only said it 'jokingly' or 'as an idea'.

Earlier on Tuesday night, the US Central Command (Centcom) said it had carried out strikes on various Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) targets in Iran. After that, various Iranian media outlets reported explosions on Qeshm Island, Bandar Abbas, Sirik, Chabahar and Konara.

On the other hand, Iran's IRGC claimed to have attacked several US military installations in Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Bahrain and Iraq.
