In a statement posted on X, the embassy wrote, "People can be killed, but ideals can never be erased. You killed Ayatollah Khamenei, but in reality you only broke a bottle of perfume whose fragrance has now spread everywhere."
Earlier, in an interview with Axios, Trump claimed the United States had the military capability to eliminate everyone attending Khamenei's funeral "in a single strike." However, he said such an attack was not carried out because it would have left no one to negotiate with.
Responding to those remarks, the Iranian Embassy accused Trump of failing to understand the profound cultural and national significance of the public mourning shown by the Iranian people following Khamenei's death.
In the final part of its statement, the embassy sharply criticized Trump's worldview, saying, "You will never understand these things, because you have neither an ancient civilization, nor a glorious history, nor even the slightest sense of respect."
