Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has strongly criticized the failure and silence of international organizations to stop Israel's activities in the Middle East.

He alleged that while Israel openly talks about assassinations and targeted attacks, global organizations are playing a completely silent role.

He made these remarks at the 'Leader of Resistance: Imam Khomeini International Conference' organized in memory of the slain former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei at the Summit Hall in Tehran on Saturday (June 4).

Pezeshkian said that international organizations and human rights defenders were expected to prevent such aggressive actions. But instead, they are providing political and logistical support to the attackers.

The president noted that Israel has attacked several countries in the region and is directly responsible for the various crises and instability that are ongoing across the Middle East. He stressed that Muslim countries have never initiated such aggression.

Referring to the journey of the “new leadership” of the Islamic community, Pezeshkian said that the current leadership has a huge responsibility on its shoulders. He pledged that his government will continue to work to uphold the ideals of the Islamic Revolution, strengthen Islamic unity and increase solidarity among Muslim countries.

The president’s remarks came as thousands of mourners gathered at the Imam Khomeini Mosalla Mosque in Tehran for Khamenei’s funeral.

It is worth noting that Khamenei was killed in a joint US-Israeli attack across Iran on February 28. After weeks of intense fighting, a ceasefire brokered by Pakistan was signed in April and an interim agreement was signed in June.

According to the government program, memorial services will continue in Tehran throughout the week with the participation of various heads of state, senior officials and religious leaders. After public tributes on Saturday and Sunday, the main funeral procession will be held in Tehran on Monday. Khamenei's body will then be taken to the holy city of Qom on July 7.

The next day, on July 8, after special tributes in the presence of religious and political figures in Baghdad, Najaf and Karbala in Iraq, the body will be taken to major Shiite shrines. Finally, on July 9, his final funeral and burial will be held at the Imam Ali Reza shrine, one of the holiest sites for Shiite Muslims, in the northeastern city of Mashhad.
