Chelsea got Martinez for ’water’

Argentine goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez has finally found his place in the team. Chelsea came very close to signing him, but coach Xabi Alonso's team got him for a pittance.
The BBC and The Athletic reported that a deal has been reached with Aston Villa for £7.5 million. Chelsea are getting him for a price that is significantly lower than his market value. Transfermarkt currently says his market value is at least £11 million. As such, the 2021 Champions League winners have acquired him for a 'water price'.
The 33-year-old goalkeeper is scheduled to undergo a medical in London. An official announcement will be made once that is complete.
Chelsea have been concerned about goalkeeper Robert Sanchez for some time now, after Sanchez made some mistakes in Monday's 3-2 win over Fulham. Chelsea have since turned their attention to World Cup-winning goalkeeper Martinez.
Martinez is reportedly set to sign a two-year deal, with the option of an additional year.
The possibility of his departure from Villa has been raised since the arrival of Japanese goalkeeper Gion Suzuki, who has lost his place in the team due to Suzuki's arrival.
