The group stage of the 2026 FIFA World Cup is nearing its conclusion, with the final six matches in Groups J, K and L scheduled to be played from Saturday night into Sunday morning. Once those fixtures are completed, the tournament will move into the Round of 32. So far, 28 teams have already booked their places in the knockout stage, while 12 nations have been eliminated after the group phase. The remaining four knockout spots are still up for grabs, with eight teams in contention. Their fate will be decided by the outcomes of the final six group-stage matches, after which the complete Round of 32 lineup will be confirmed. Under the expanded 48-team World Cup format, the top two teams from each of the 12 groups, along with the eight best third-placed teams, qualify for the Round of 32. The knockout phase will be played from June 28 to July 3. They are Haiti, Panama, Curaçao, Uruguay, Tunisia, Czech Republic, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, Qatar, New Zealand and Iraq. Eight teams still in contention Eight teams remain in the race for the final four places in the Round of 32. Saturday`s concluding group-stage fixtures will determine which sides qualify either by finishing in the top two of their groups or by securing one of the remaining best third-placed spots.
