France dominated the final group match of the 2026 FIFA World Cup against Norway. PSG star Ousmane Dembele's brilliant hat-trick gave Didier Deschamps' team a 3-1 lead in the first half. The French star, who won the Ballon d'Or, became the second hat-trick scorer in the history of this World Cup after Lionel Messi.
France put Norway under pressure from the start of the match at Boston Stadium. It took last season's runners-up just 7 minutes to take the lead. Dembele scored a great shot inside the box with the help of Kylian Mbappe. The forward put France ahead 2-0 with a great goal in the 20th minute. Like the first goal, Mbappe, who was in great form, assisted this goal.
After France took a two-goal lead, Norway equalized. Thelonious Asgard's goal in the 21st minute reduced the gap, but the French attack could not stop the momentum. The newly-crowned Ballon d'Or winner completed his hat-trick in the 32nd minute of the match. He scored the goal with a wonderful left-footed curling shot with the help of Aurélien Choumany, giving France a huge lead.
This is the second fastest hat-trick in the history of the 96-year-old football World Cup. The fastest hat-trick in the history of the World Cup is held by former Austrian striker Erik Probst. He scored a hat-trick in 24 minutes against former Czechoslovakia in the 1954 World Cup. Dembele's hat-trick in 32 minutes is the second fastest in the history of the World Cup. Dembele surpassed England legend Gary Lineker's hat-trick in 35 minutes against Poland in the 1986 World Cup to become the second fastest.
