There are only five months left until the start of the 2026 Football World Cup. In the meantime, the participating teams have started finalizing their plans, including logistics and accommodation. The country's media outlet Marca reported, citing Spanish journalist Alejandro de la Rosa, that the Portuguese national team has chosen a luxury resort located in the Riviera Maya, Mexico, as their residence during the World Cup. This decision was made by prioritizing comfort, privacy and world-class amenities for the entire squad, including Ronaldo.

This resort, called Fairmont Mayakoba, is located a few kilometers from Playa del Carmen and is an exclusive five-star standard. This resort is considered ideal not only for its luxury, but also because of its geographical location.

Portugal will mainly play matches in Houston and Miami in the group stage of the World Cup. It takes about two hours to go from the Riviera Maya to Houston and a little over an hour to go to Miami by plane. As a result, travel will be easy and the physical fatigue of the players will be relatively low.

The Fairmont Mayakoba Resort is particularly known for its natural environment. Spread over about 97 hectares, this resort has dense forests, clear streams and direct access to the beach. The green nature all around makes it even more peaceful.

The main attractions of the resort include five swimming pools. There is also a world-class golf course, various sports facilities. According to Spanish media Marca, the hotel has a total of 401 rooms, including suites and private bungalows adjacent to the beach. Each room has a marble bathroom, large bathtub, coffee maker, high-speed internet and premium amenities.

The resort's most basic rooms cost between 282 and 320 euros per night. The luxury suites start at 1,000 euros and go up to 2,938 euros. That's around 3 million pesos in Mexican currency.
